The major overhaul works of the flare unit of section No. 26 "Water supply, water cooling and sewerage" of the "Ethylene-Polyethylene" plant of the "Azerikimya" Production Union have been completed.
Sequence of works carried out during the major overhaul of the H=120m flare unit:
- Installation and use of 2 electric baskets for cleaning and painting the metal surfaces on the flare tower.
- Installation and use of 2 ground-operated electric winches for lifting and lowering equipment, metal structures and paints on the flare tower.
- Repair of the stairs and service platforms leading up the flare, lowering the replaced parts of the service platform and stairs to the ground, and lifting the new metal structures to be installed.
- Dismantling and replacement of the crown head on the flare tower, i.e. lowering the crown head dismantled from a height of 120m to the ground and lifting it back to a height of 120m for re-installation.
- Dismantling and installation of the 12 atm steam line running to the flare.
- Replacement of the corroded parts of the metal structure of the flare tower frame, lowering the replaced frame pipes to the ground and lifting the new pipes to be installed.
- Cleaning the surface of the metal structures and pipes of the flare tower from corrosion and old paint and painting with a 70-micron-thick Epoxy-Polyamide primer coat (thick Epoxy-Polyamide primer paint, including hardener and thinner).
